How do you fix a stuck second hand on a wall clock.
The hour hand is held to the shaft via friction.
Is it wind up or battery.
Push the stem on the back of the second hand into the opening on the end of the shaft if your clock has a second hand.
I replaced the batteries but the second hand is stuck and just jumps back and forth like it wants to move forward but can t.
Friction holds the second hand in the small opening at the end of the shaft.
A small push can give it the connection it needs to get back in time with the second hand.
If it s simply a matter of tightening the hands push the hour hand against the clock shaft first.

If the second hand is not moving give it a flick it in the right direction.
If it s battery most likely it just needs a new battery they sometimes do the ticking but not moving thing when the battery is almost dead don t know why.
The center hex nut could be too tight if your clock is running slowly you can loosen this about a quarter turn.
Hold the second hand and tighten the tiny nut at the end of the shaft with needle nose pliers.
I have two clocks that do this.
If it doesn t start moving again on its own put the battery in backwards for a few seconds and then return it to normal.
