The roof construction is 250mm x 50mm joists spaced 600mm apart with a 18mm plywood deck.

Roughly speaking extensive green roofs have a substrate thickness of between 4 and 15 cm and a weight of 30 to 220 kilo per m2. There are various layers of sheeting on top to make the roof waterproof. Single course construction consisting of a vegetation support layer with a drainage and filter function for all types of construction a root resistant membrane and protection layer are necessary to protect the waterproofing root resistant membrane.

The layers work in partnership with each other to provide a whole host of benefits for the building its occupier and the environment.
